About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for an Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OT1) in Miami, Florida.

Core Job Functions

  • Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography, optical coherence tomography, automated perimetry, slit lamp photography, external photography, and ocular motility photography.
  • Documents procedures in the EMR system and uploads images into the electronic medical record/PACS platform.
  • Provides patient-centric care.
  • Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
  • Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Fulfills best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
  • Completes University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
  • Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
  • Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
  • Mets daily productivity goals.
  • Safeguards equipment calibration and ensures instrumentation is in proper working order.
  • Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.
  • Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.
  • Works evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Performs organizational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification and Licensing: American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS), preferred OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography) or COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge, Skill, and Attitudes: Works well with patients of all age groups, presents a professional appearance, communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills, completes assignments accurately and with attention to detail, seeks out instruction in areas that require additional knowledge, works independently and in a collaborative environment, displays basic knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility, identifies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis, knowledgeable in computer software for all imaging modalities, demonstrates core knowledge of standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis, proficient in Microsoft Office.
