About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, seeks a full-time Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1) in Miami, Florida.

Job Functions

  • Performs diagnostic testing including color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ICG angiography, optical coherence tomography, automated perimetry, slit lamp photography, external photography, ocular motility photography, and slit lamp photography.
  • Documents procedures in the EMR system and uploads images into the PACS platform.
  • Provides patient-centric care, adhering to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
  • Completes mandatory in-services and online training, attends educational courses, and assists with writing imaging protocols for investigator-sponsored trials.
  • Coordinates and communicates with research and non-research staff to ensure effective patient workflow.
  • May assist with coordinating study visits, maintaining study subject records, and assisting with IRB submissions.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge, Skill, and Attitudes: Works well with patients of all age groups, presents a professional appearance, communicates effectively, analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work, completes assignments accurately and with attention to detail, makes independent decisions, seeks out additional knowledge, works independently and collaboratively, demonstrates intermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility, and identifies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis.
  • Department Specific Functions: Certifies and performs all clinical research imaging, acquires and maintains certification of all imaging equipment, notifies reading centers of software upgrades, performs various maintenance on machines, contacts vendors for device issues, maintains and updates records of certified devices, and coordinates with research and non-research staff.
