About the role
The Ophthalmic Assistant provides technical support and assistance to the Ophthalmic Physicians in order to facilitate the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients receiving specialized ophthalmic care.
Responsibilities
- Assist in patient evaluations and treatments
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and perform other clinical tasks under supervision
- Document patient information accurately and maintain records
Requirements
- Associates degree in relevant field or at least two years specialized training
- Successful completion of an accredited program for Ophthalmic Assistants/Technicians or equivalent
- Minimum of six months satisfactory full-time work under ophthalmologic supervision
- Current experience in the last two years as an ophthalmic technician or assistant, or an equivalent combination of education and medical experience
Qualifications
- Current certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician or equivalent
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
