Ophthalmic Assistant

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance during eye care provider examinations and treatments.
• Performs testing such as visual acuity measurement, color vision, lensometry, keratometry, pupil function, tonometry, automated perimetry, EOMs (Extra-Ocular Muscle), visual fields, and other patient services as required.
• Initiates documentation of patient’s chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and ocular findings.
• Acts as a scribe, documenting clinically relevant interactions and dialogue on behalf of the provider.
• Provides patient education under the guidance of the eye care provider.
