Operator - Tote Room 1st Shift

Responsibilities

  • Affirms personal responsibility for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and integrates safety and health into all jobs and tasks.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains extended run fillers to ensure finished products meet customer, MFI, and USDA specifications.
  • Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Set up, runs, cleans, conducts preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshoots extended run fillers, such as Custom Tote/Pail Filler and Pail Filler, Scholle Tote Filler.
  • Fulfills all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production and sanitation.
  • Accurately maintains all required documentation in real time.
  • Proactively plans and leads changeover activities for fillers and date coding, ensuring supervisors are informed of necessary mechanics, materials, and communications.
  • Alerts the supervisor when mechanical problems occur.
  • Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation practices are maintained and leads all related room activities.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Maintains line OEE targets and material shrinkage targets.
  • Communicates actively with ESL pasteurizer operators to ensure efficient operation.
  • Engages in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adheres to safe work practices and reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect personnel safety.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 2+ years of experience operating machinery and handling GMP’s and product specifications.
    • SPC (weight control) ability.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to communicate and get along with other employees.
    • Basic computer skills necessary to operate equipment controls.
    • Mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
