About the role
This is a bargaining unit vacancy in the M GM Operations - Maalaea Department of the M Generation Division at Hawaiian Electric Company. The role is non-exempt and involves training to perform the duties of a Senior Operator Helper at the diesel plant, as well as general maintenance work.
Responsibilities
- Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator at the diesel plant, training to perform the duties of these classifications.
- Performs operational maintenance work at the diesel plant.
- May stand watch as Senior Operator Helper in a relief capacity when qualified.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean; maintains watch until relieved.
- Assumes an emergency management role, performing specific assignments or functions during emergencies (excluding routine trouble calls/callouts).
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
Requirements
- Ability to identify and distinguish between colors, including shades, hues, and tints (required for electrician-related positions).
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license.
- Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions as outlined in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS). Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
- Must pass the Job Sample Test.
