Operator Helper
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Notify supervisor of accidents, near misses, or injuries immediately.
- Work safely each day and ensure others do the same.
- Maintain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) goals of zero losses, zero accidents, and zero defects.
- Fix unsafe conditions and report them to the supervisor.
- Certify and operate in truck loading and unloading, and boiler incinerator.
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry, BOL processing, production entry, receiving, and general organization.
- Be able to climb up to three floors of stairs, read panel displays, use operation manuals, and use full upper body movement.
- Train and obtain a Boiler Operator License from the State of New Jersey.
- Attend and participate in meetings and training.
- Participate in projects and collaborate with maintenance for equipment repairs.
- Follow plant environmental control policies and procedures.
- Meet team expectations in reliability, teamwork, and process improvement.
- Maintain and improve productivity, teamwork, quality, and safety.
- Comply with good housekeeping practices.
- Follow all environmental compliance policies and programs.
- Comply with all plant rules.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Regular attendance and ability to rotate shifts.
- Engage in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and support plant initiatives.
- Lead and improve TPM processes.
- Encourage new ideas to create best practices.
- Support pillar progress and address issues by submitting TPM tags.
Skills and Abilities
- Good communication skills
- Able to think under pressure and make quick decisions
- Able to work well in a team or alone
- Able to communicate in English
- Able to read a tape measure and do basic math
Computer and Software Competencies
- Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Manufacturing or Asphalt production experience is a plus
- Forklift knowledge useful
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to stand for 10-12 hours straight
- Able to climb and descend stairs for up to 12 hours continuously
- Lift and push/pull 50 lbs. more than 100 times per day
- Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for 12 hours
- Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
- Exposure to temperature extremes
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
- Bending and twisting
- Handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Repetitive movements
- Able to climb on and off a forklift
