About the role

The M GT MOLOKAI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. The role is NON-EXEMPT.

Essential Functions

• Works a shift with a Chief Operator and trains to perform the duties of the Chief Operator classification.
  • (Refer to Chief Operator job description.)
• Stands day watch as assigned.
  • Collects diesel engine water samples and add chemicals, receives fuel oil and witnesses delivery;
  • Cleans oil purifiers and performs greasing duties.
• Performs in relief capacity as Chief Operator when qualified.
  • Performs general maintenance as assigned.
  • Provides assistance to Diesel Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Electrician.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean.
  • Inspects, receives, and stores incoming materials and supplies from vendors.
  • Maintains watch until relieved.
  • Performs janitorial and grounds maintenance as required.
• Other Responsibilities:
  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
  • Ambient emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license.
• Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.
• Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
• Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
• Must pass the Job Sample Test.
