About the role
The M GT MOLOKAI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. The role is NON-EXEMPT.
Essential Functions
- Works a shift with a Chief Operator and trains to perform the duties of the Chief Operator classification.
- (Refer to Chief Operator job description.)
- Stands day watch as assigned.
- Collects diesel engine water samples and add chemicals, receives fuel oil and witnesses delivery;
- Cleans oil purifiers and performs greasing duties.
- Performs in relief capacity as Chief Operator when qualified.
- Performs general maintenance as assigned.
- Provides assistance to Diesel Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Electrician.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean.
- Inspects, receives, and stores incoming materials and supplies from vendors.
- Maintains watch until relieved.
- Performs janitorial and grounds maintenance as required.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Ambient emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license.
- Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
- Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
- Must pass the Job Sample Test.
