Operate production machinery safely and efficiently, maintain documentation, and communicate issues to appropriate staff. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, repairs, and production equipment changeovers to ensure high-quality product output.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all employer safety and health regulations, including Lock out/Block Out/Tag out policy and proper PPE usage.
  • Monitor and explain deviations from expected Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Complete machine and task-specific training as documented on Operator Development Plan.
  • Perform Operator Checklists and data collection of quality measurements.
  • Correct deviations from quality standards and monitor SPC charting.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports, and continuous improvement ideas to management, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues, and perform maintenance tasks as outlined by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Establish SMART goals, request regular meetings with managers, and seek personal development opportunities.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks are performed as outlined in the Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Maintain accurate production reporting documentation.
  • Actively participate in plant teams and activities (safety, quality, sustainability, OEE, maintenance, etc.).
  • Operate Powered Industrial Truck, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift per OSHA regulations.
  • Produce and/or pack the best quality product, ensuring compliance with company and customer expectations.
  • Label and tag production, maintain traceability of raw and packaging materials, and isolate non-conforming products.
  • Perform quality testing and record results; communicate out-of-specification conditions.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and food safety programs to prevent contamination.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area through effective housekeeping and sanitization.
  • Perform scheduled production equipment changeovers with minimal impact to OEE.
  • Conduct Preventative Maintenance tasks as outlined by the plant PM program and manage tasks in Computerized Maintenance Management Software.
  • Evaluate equipment for improvement areas and tag components needing repair or replacement.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and in safe, efficient operation after maintenance or changeovers.
  • Record parts removed from inventory and notify Maintenance Manager of low stock.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successfully complete entrance examinations and interviews.
  • Sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to act as Person In Charge in the absence of management.
  • Ability to work promptly and regularly, take direction, and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to work under deadlines, concentrate, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to react productively to change.

Physical Activity

  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and equipment; requires good body agility.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist.
  • Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Sustained periods of standing.
  • Walking: Moving over long distances to accomplish tasks.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force.
  • Lifting: Raising objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
  • Grasping/Fingering: Applying pressure with fingers and palm; working primarily with fingers.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects by touch (size, shape, temperature, texture).
  • Talking/Hearing: Expressing ideas clearly and perceiving sounds accurately (40 dB at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz).
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of arms, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Vision: Capable of analyzing data, detecting small defects at close distances, and making fine adjustments.

Environmental Working Conditions

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°F for periods over one hour).
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
  • Exposure to oils and other cutting fluids (air and/or skin contact).

Pay

$18.95 - $27.90 per hour.
