Operator

Essential Responsibilities

• Primary operator for smaller equipment.
• Handle daily operation of lull, manlift, and skid steer.
• Responsible for equipment checklist, maintenance, and rigging.
• Complete pre-task inspection of equipment.
• Load and unload equipment from transport trailers.
• Operate various equipment around and near other equipment and employees without conflict.
• Use equipment to handle, transport, load, and place extremely heavy objects and materials.
• Perform various manual labor tasks as necessary for the performance of work.
• Grease and fuel equipment if necessary and keep records of equipment hours.
• Proactively identify safety risks and hazards on the job site.
• Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
• Follow project instructions from superintendent and/or foreman.
• Ensure regulated and proper headgear, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn.
• Operate and carry out job duties in accordance with FHG’s Core Values and Code of Ethics.

Position Requirements

• A high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
• At least one year of construction experience.
• Experience operating light and heavy equipment preferred.
• Experience with 100% travel away from home preferred.
• General knowledge of construction and ability to read plans.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills with all levels of management.
• Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
• Able to work in a standing position for extended hours.
• Comfortable climbing tall ladders, working at heights, and working in confined spaces.
• Possess a valid state or federal ID.
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card.
• NCCCO training for BT and RT crane (classroom and hands-on).
