Operator
About the role
As an Operator at Corbion, you will work under the direction of the production/shift manager or more senior production operators to operate automated production equipment and perform manual tasks in a clean room environment to produce biomaterial-based polymers. You will ensure production aligns with schedules, batch recipes, product specifications, area SOPs, QA policies, and cGMP standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate assigned equipment, take readings, and conduct inspections for utility, auxiliary, and mechanical equipment systems in non-clean room areas.
- Package products for shipment in accordance with applicable instructions and area SOPs while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.
- Provide backup support to the Supply Chain area, including receiving incoming bulk and non-bulk raw materials, NPR materials, plant supplies, and spare parts. Update computerized records and move goods to appropriate storage locations.
- Perform lubrication and/or preventive maintenance activities as assigned, typically not requiring specialized or technical skills. Assist maintenance technicians or contractors in performing maintenance and repairs.
- Inspect safety showers, eye-wash stations, fire extinguishers, and other EHS-related equipment or systems.
- Clean process equipment and production areas to prevent product contamination.
- Work safely to maintain an injury- and accident-free workplace.
- Participate in problem-resolution and process improvement teams as assigned.
- Weigh and charge raw materials, connect and disconnect auxiliary equipment, and package in-process and finished materials.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping.
- Perform other duties as determined by business needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Understands basic math and can apply it to weighing bulk materials or using an analytical scale.
- 1+ years of experience in production or manufacturing operations, preferably in an automated batch chemical processing environment.
- Experience in a pharma or medical device facility, particularly in a clean room environment, is highly preferred.
- Operational knowledge of processing equipment such as reactors, pumps, tanks, filters, and heat exchangers.
- Hands-on experience with weighing raw materials on an analytical scale (vs. bulk scale).
- Able to perform bulk measurements at multiple areas of the production process.
- Understands basic chemistry and math terms/nomenclature.
- Working knowledge of pumps and their mechanical operation using computer-based programs and user interfaces.
- Able to monitor production operations, pressure, and tracing activities using computer-based programs and observation.
- Understands process schematics for pumps, pressure, tank operations, filters, etc.
- Ability to trace product through vessels and understand how pressures impact machinery operations.
- Understands or can learn the compatibility of chemicals and gases.
- Good math skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Procedure-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with strong planning abilities and good judgment.

This role operates in a manufacturing facility.

- Sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and bending.
- Reaching above and below the shoulders.
- Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are required for written and verbal job functions.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
