Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all personnel on Shift / in the Plant
  • Thorough understanding of all Standard Operations Procedures
  • Communicating with and be aware of all persons in the Plant and their whereabouts
  • Continuous upkeep and update on all safety procedures
  • Full compliance and follow the Bargaining Union Contract
  • Supervise Crew members, all classifications
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products; including coordination of all activities necessary, per Shift, to ensure that Batteries and all necessary Ovens are pushed and charged according to the Pushing Schedule
  • Comply with all State and Federal Safety and Environmental regulations
  • Coverage between material handler, Power Company in its co-generation capacity and primary customer
  • Coordinate efforts between material handler, Power Company in its co-generation capacity and primary customer
  • Conduct staff / Crew meetings as required
  • Report, investigate and communicate all accidents, incidences and problematic issues with the proper personnel
  • Prepares operational and staffing schedules to coordinate manufacturing activities, including preparation of overtime schedules, to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications
  • Shift, completes and reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Directs the inspection machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Manages logistics: inbound/outbound train schedules dumping/reloading
  • Reviews and assures compliance to standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards
  • Collaboratively works with Human Resources Manager to resolve worker issues in a timely manner
  • Responsible for directing and functioning as a team member to meet or exceed coking production schedules
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Manufacturing software.
