About the role

The Operations Team Leader, Air & Ocean plays a pivotal role in supporting customer service and shipment activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and directing teams to file Customs entries, Exports, and in-bond transactions.
  • Maintaining compliance with CBP regulations and enhancing knowledge of new policies and regulations.
  • Managing shipment volumes, ETAs, and ensuring timely processing of Air, Ocean, Rail, ISF, and AES advances.
  • Identifying potential issues and suggesting operational improvements.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of 5 to 10 employees.
  • Ensuring the team meets Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deadlines.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to clients, vendors, and service providers.
  • Maintaining accurate records and managing shipment volumes.
  • Ensuring compliance with CBP regulations and enhancing knowledge of new policies and regulations.
  • Preparing and completing entries and documentation to comply with US Customs regulations.
  • Running internal and external reports for audits, data analysis, and cross-referencing.
  • Identifying potential challenges and risks and solving problems efficiently or collaborating with leaders for solutions.
  • Fostering a dynamic work environment by setting a positive example in terms of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks to meet KPIs and deadlines.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of 5 to 10 employees.
  • Assisting with performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Assigning tasks to team members.
  • Providing training and guidance to direct reports.
  • Monitoring work volumes and attendance of direct reports.
  • Conducting team meetings and overseeing schedules.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years in Customs Brokerage or Logistics experience.
  • Intermediate MS Office knowledge.
  • High level of organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience identifying and communicating operational improvements.
  • CCS Designation or LCHB training preferred.
  • Ability to function in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Critical thinking in processes, procedures, issues, and communications.
  • Valid Passport and willingness to travel to other office locations in CAD/USA/MX.
