Buckling into a new role as an Operations Supervisor (Southern Border Import), you'll play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the daily operations of our Southern Border Import department. Your responsibilities will encompass:
About the Role
Buckland, a company dedicated to enhancing global trade experiences, seeks an Operations Supervisor to oversee and enhance our operations department. Reporting directly to the Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the operation staff to ensure efficient customer service.
- Oversight of all operational processes to maintain departmental efficiency.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve customer service and departmental efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your primary duties will include:
- Providing the highest level of customer service to clients, vendors, and service providers.
- Tariff research and classification of goods to ensure compliance with Canadian, Mexican, and US customs regulations.
- Handling requests from internal and external clients, assisting team members and team leaders with addressing errors, and ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
- Consulting with the manager on client data and complex import-related issues.
- Aiding in the development and implementation of written work instructions and procedures tailored to operation and client needs.
- Collaborating with IT to refine work instructions as needed.
- Providing information to the billing team, offering after-hours support, preparing import/export forms, and internal documents to comply with customs regulations.
- Managing a network of Mexican customs clearance partners and drayage companies to ensure successful coverage.
- Exercising independent judgment by providing direction and assistance with day-to-day tasks, prioritizing, and managing resources.
- Ensuring a high level of urgency and accuracy while fostering a continuous improvement culture.
- Cooking up a storm with cross-functional teams to align schedules and priorities.
- Maintaining high standards of service by monitoring team performance and providing regular feedback.

Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in International Trade, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of proven customs, compliance, or international trade experience.
- Knowledge of Annex 24 and IMMEX programs.
- Leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- A high level of organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Full understanding of customs regulations in applicable countries.
- Intermediate MS Office knowledge.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel to other office locations in CAD/USA/MX.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage a group of 15 to 20 employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Hire and terminate employees.
- Provide training and guidance to direct reports.
- Monitor work volumes of direct reports.
- Supervise team members, conduct team meetings, monitor attendance, and manage schedules.
