Operations Shift Supervisor – Boilers/Steam Generators
About the role
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility during an assigned shift, including the monitoring of boilers, turbines, and the steam plant. The Shift Supervisor will routinely tour the plant and oversee the work of various personnel while operating in accordance with all safety regulations, environmental limits, and permits. In the event of emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor will, if necessary, direct or personally perform the required operations and coordinate the activities of all personnel involved.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel at the facility.
- Will ensure that all personnel follow all applicable policies and procedures and work safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all personnel are properly cleared and tagged before removing equipment from service for maintenance and other purposes, and issue safety permits in accordance with plant procedures.
- Maintain the plant within all environmental limits and permits.
- Emergency response to injuries or accidents.
- Direct the completion of shift, daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
- Maximize operational performance of all aspects of the facility.
- Troubleshoot plant operational issues.
- Cookordinate maintenance activities.
- Projects as determined by the Operations Manager.
- Train and manage a workforce that is motivated, flexible in skills, cross-trained, and technically capable to ensure an effective and motivated team.
- Responsible for technical training and development of all personnel on the assigned shift.
- Maintain administrative records on personnel.
Qualifications
- 3 years or more of supervisory experience in power or resource recovery plant operations.
- HS/GED diploma required.
- Demonstrated hands-on supervisory experience working with high-performing teams, high-pressure boilers, and electric generation equipment is required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general administrative periodicals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Write reports and correspondence as well as effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and subordinates in English.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.

Pay Transparency
Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future. The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $118,700.00 - $169,800.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
