Operations Research Analyst.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, background investigation, drug screening, and periodic random drug testing. May require TDY travel up to 30 days CONUS and OCONUS up to 20% of the time, and may require uncommon tour of duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless previously met.

Responsibilities

• Design mathematical and statistical models to conduct cost-benefit analyses.
• Evaluate data sets utilizing economic analysis techniques to simulate process features.
• Assess proposed policies and system capabilities to determine cost effectiveness and feasibility.
• Formulate assumptions and measures of effectiveness to support resource acquisition decisions.
• Present analytical findings to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
• Negotiate technical operations research solutions with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Direct the work of subordinate personnel based on organizational priorities and assignment difficulty.
• Appraise employee performance to provide developmental feedback and recommend awards.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
• One year of specialized experience applying mathematical and statistical models to conduct cost-benefit analyses; evaluating system capabilities to inform strategic planning; presenting technical research findings to stakeholders to support decision-making; and guiding project teams in the execution of analytical studies. This experience must be equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service.
• Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System.
