Operations Manager

About the role

Sonesta International Hotels is the 8th largest hotel company in the United States, featuring 13 distinct brands and more than 1,100 hotels with over 100,000 rooms across three continents. The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Arlington, VA, responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences and efficient property performance.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences and efficient property performance
• Managing front-of-house and back-of-house activities, including staffing, scheduling, and supervision of operational teams
• Monitoring occupancy, revenue, and cost controls; reviewing operational reports
• Partnering with department leaders to implement process improvements and resolve service issues
• Enforcing safety and compliance procedures, coordinating maintenance and housekeeping priorities
• Supporting training initiatives that promote guest satisfaction and team engagement
• Collaborating with sales, finance, and corporate support functions to align operational objectives with Sonesta’s overall business goals

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in hotel or hospitality operations management, including oversight of front office, housekeeping, and guest services teams
• Strong skills in staff leadership, performance management, and team development, with the ability to motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in operational planning, budgeting, and cost control, with comfort using property management systems and basic data analysis tools
• Excellent customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills, with a focus on creating positive, inclusive guest and employee experiences
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems quickly, and make sound decisions while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
• Knowledge of safety, security, and regulatory compliance practices relevant to hotel operations
• Prior experience in a branded hotel environment is preferred; experience with multi-property or multi-brand organizations is a plus
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by hotel operations
