About the role
Operations Manager leads one or more large volume operation(s), which may serve a multi-disciplined customer base or multi-facility operations. Responsibilities include safety, customer relations, operational oversight, business metrics, staff development, business development support, and P & L. This position drives continuous improvement projects and plays a key role in customer relationships and the business development process.
Responsibilities
- Leads, implements, coordinates best practices, technology enhancements, cost-effective operational solutions, start-up, transfers, continuous improvement, and account projects.
- Maximizes productivity, quality, and service throughout operations using best practices in facilities layout, methods, material handling, technology, and measurements.
- Creates, coordinates, monitors, and reports on business plan objectives vs. actual results for Senior Management and/or clients.
- Develops front-line leaders and associates, attracting and retaining talent.
- Ensures safety and efficiency throughout operations according to customer and employer procedures.
- Conducts start-up meetings, weekly walk-around reporting, project teams, and training.
- Communicates changes in extraordinary handling procedures to office personnel and completes warehouse worksheets.
- Serves as the professional point of contact for customer relations, responding to inquiries and delighting customers.
- Heavily involved in business development and contracts.
- Leads and drives corporate culture and initiatives through hands-on interactions with all associates.
- Authorizes and monitors operational expenditures.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Previous management experience for a third-party logistics provider.
- College degree preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Expert in Warehouse Management Systems.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with staff development, facility layout, and inventory management.
- Strong analytical and team-building skills.
- Experience with multi-shift operations.
- High energy level and drive to implement change.
- Prior P & L exposure and ability to manage it.
- Ability to coordinate best practices and implement system-wide.

- Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, squat/kneel, twist/turn, climb, or reach on even and uneven surfaces.
- Works in extreme temperatures outside (hot/cold) and a temperature-controlled internal environment.
- Specific vision capabilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (with or without corrective lenses).
