Operations Lead, Shipping and Receiving

Shift: Second Shift [4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.] Sunday – Thursday

About the role

The Shipping and Receiving Lead supports daily distribution center operations by coordinating workflow, monitoring productivity, and assisting associates within the Shipping and Receiving Departments. This position serves as a hands-on leader who promotes safety, quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency while supporting the leadership team in achieving departmental goals. The lead is responsible for providing direction, training, and support to associates during the shift while ensuring adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures, and customer service expectations. This role does not replace supervisory responsibilities but acts as a key operational resource and point of contact for the team.

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily shipping and receiving activities to meet operational goals.
  • Provide work direction and support to associates throughout the shift.
  • Assist with workload balance and staffing assignments based on business needs.
  • Monitor department productivity, quality, and service levels.
  • Communicate department priorities and operational updates to associates.
  • Support shift startup meetings and communicate key safety, quality, and operational messages.
• Shipping Operations
  • Monitor outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate order processing.
  • Verify completion of shipping documentation and system transactions.
  • Support trailer loading activities and ensure compliance with loading standards.
  • Escalate shipping delays, inventory discrepancies, or equipment issues to leadership.
• Receiving Operations
  • Coordinate incoming deliveries and receiving workflow.
  • Ensure product receipts are processed accurately and timely.
  • Assist with inventory verification and discrepancy resolution.
  • Monitor receiving processes to ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Training and Development
  • Assist in training new associates.
  • Demonstrate proper work methods and reinforce standard operating procedures.
  • Support cross-training efforts to improve departmental flexibility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or yard environment.
• Ability to operate or willingness to learn yard tractor (hostler) operations.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior yard driver or CDL experience.
• Experience with WMS or RF scanning systems.
• Familiarity with shipping/receiving processes.

Pay

Hiring Range: $16.56 USD - $20.70 USD per hour.

This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
