Operations Intern

Hajoca Corporation is one of the country's largest privately-held wholesale distributors of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Founded in 1858, Hajoca operates on the principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability" and a decentralized model where each Profit Center is run as its own small business. Moore Supply Co., a Hajoca trade name, is seeking an Operations Intern at their Houston, TX location for a 12-week internship beginning November 2, 2026.

About the Role

During this internship you will contribute to a variety of essential business functions and learn the processes involved in achieving success. You will gain an understanding of operational needs, manage the flow of goods, and engage in facets of work including warehouse, delivery, and inventory management. The role requires effective communication with coworkers, customers, and vendors, confident assistance to customers and business partners, active pursuit of learning Profit Center business functions, and completion of required safety and compliance training.

Responsibilities

• Gain an understanding of the operational needs and functions of the business
• Learn about the processes involved in managing the flow of goods and what it takes to run a successful business
• Perform job duties that support the operational needs of the business
• Engage in various facets of work in areas including but not limited to warehouse, delivery, and inventory management
• Effectively listen, communicate, and interact with coworkers, customers, and vendors
• Confidently assist customers and/or business partners
• Actively pursue opportunities to learn a variety of Profit Center business functions and why they are important
• Make a difference by impacting the Profit Center in a positive way through daily work and/or business projects
• Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned
• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, or a recent graduate within the last 60 days
• Ability to excel in a wide range of tasks and showcase both interpersonal and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent customer service, communication, telephone, and listening skills
• Previous exposure to operations, customer service, and/or sales (a plus)
• Ability to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center
• High level of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy
• Ability to learn and operate computer-related systems used for warehouse operations
• Ability to prioritize work projects and multi-task
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) for email communication and maintaining weekly reports and documents
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, teammates, vendors, and co-workers
• Read, write, speak, and understand English
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
