About the role
The Operations Financial Data Analyst supports forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes for assigned business areas, including expenses, headcount, and/or revenue. They prepare and maintain forecast inputs, models, and schedules, and assist in Monthly Forecasts, Annual Operating Plan, and long-range planning cycles.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and maintains forecasts, prepares variance analysis, and supports business reviews, cost tracking, and operational decisions.
- Collaborates with business partners to collect input, validate data, and clarify assumptions.
- Works with finance, accounting, and data team members to ensure consistency in data, definitions, and reporting.
- Supports explanations of financial performance by gathering data, validating assumptions, and preparing draft narratives.
- Responds to ad hoc data and analysis requests with accurate, well-organized outputs.
- Works with Accounting to support actuals close, data reconciliation, and variance explanations.
- Partners with finance, accounting, and data team members to ensure consistency in data, definitions, and reporting.
- Serves as Operations Organization liaison to business units throughout the Bank regarding operational data and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university majoring in finance, data science, economics or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, finance, data analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with data and statistical modeling, preferably in the disciplines of financial profitability and/or operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence software tools preferred.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.
Qualifications
- Ability to analyze and comprehend financial statements, as well as to grasp the impact of financial information.
- Ability to use historical trends to develop dynamic budgeting and forecasting models.
- Excellent analytical and review skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals; comprehend technical procedures, government regulations and reports; and apply the information as needed to surface data insights for the financial institution.
- Prepares/Reviews various account reconciliations.
- Performs special projects as required.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong computer skills, skilled user of all Microsoft Office applications; exposure to FP&A systems or BI tools is a plus but not required.
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
