About the role

The Operations Financial Data Analyst supports forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes for assigned business areas, including expenses, headcount, and/or revenue. They prepare and maintain forecast inputs, models, and schedules, assist in monthly forecasts, annual operating plans, and long-range planning cycles, and update forecasts and models based on actual results, approved changes, and revised assumptions. They also prepare standard monthly and quarterly reporting packages for Operations, including variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods, and conduct comprehensive departmental and expense analysis to ensure timely and transparent reporting of operating performance, financial trends, and budget utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Supports forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes for assigned business areas, including expenses, headcount, and/or revenue.
  • Prepares and maintains forecast inputs, models, and schedules under guidance from the COO and other senior leadership.
  • Aids in Monthly Forecasts, Annual Operating Plan, and long-range planning cycles by ensuring data accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Updates forecasts and models based on actual results, approved changes, and revised assumptions.
  • Prepares standard monthly and quarterly reporting packages for Operations, including variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Conducts comprehensive departmental and expense analysis to ensure timely and transparent reporting of operating performance, financial trends, and budget utilization.
  • Supports explanations of financial performance by gathering data, validating assumptions, and preparing draft narratives.
  • Performs structured financial analysis to support business reviews, cost tracking, and operational decisions.
  • Analyzes basic trends and drivers, escalating risks, anomalies, or data issues to senior team members.
  • Responds to ad hoc data and analysis requests with accurate, well-organized outputs.
  • Works with business partners to collect input, validate data, and clarify assumptions.
  • Collaborates with Accounting to support actuals close, data reconciliation, and variance explanations.
  • Promotes consistency in data, definitions, and reporting with finance, accounting, and data team members.
  • Serves as Operations Organization liaison to business units throughout the Bank regarding operational data and reporting requirements.
  • Uses FP&A, reporting, and data visualization systems and tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Snowflake, Cognos, Axiom) to maintain forecasts, reporting, and dashboards.
  • Fulfills established financial planning and analysis processes, documentation standards, and control procedures.
  • Identifies data quality issues or process gaps and raises them to the team for resolution.
  • Makes recommendations to enhance procedures and business practices in a way that will improve efficiency within the organization.
  • Continuously evaluates processes and analytical tools seeking to deliver dynamic, forward-thinking analyses that help identify opportunities for efficiency gains and improvement.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university majoring in finance, data science, economics or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, finance, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience with data and statistical modeling, preferably in the disciplines of financial profitability and/or operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence software tools preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and comprehend financial statements, as well as to grasp the impact of financial information.
  • Ability to use historical trends to develop dynamic budgeting and forecasting models.
  • Excellent analytical and review skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals; comprehend technical procedures, government regulations and reports; and apply the information as needed to surface data insights for the financial institution.
  • Ability to prepare/Review various account reconciliations.
  • Ability to perform special projects as required.
  • Ability to exchange accurate information when conversing.
  • Physical Activity/Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Physical Environment Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone. Constantly positions self to operate on a computer. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.
  • Working Conditions/Environment: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
  • Work Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm. Available for overtime, as needed.
