About Us

At Blue Kangaroo Packoutz, We Care for What We Carry. We specialize in providing high-touch, white-glove contents management and restoration services — packouts, cleaning, and storage of household goods. This is what we do and we strive to do it better than everyone else. We're known for giving our customers a sense of calm and confidence during a stressful time: our team's approach is "we've got this."

Position Summary

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Operations to lead the day-to-day operations of our contents restoration business. This role combines operational leadership (scheduling, staffing, safety, process) with hands-on project coordination (job execution, subcontractor management, cross-team communication) into a single seat. You'll be the operational backbone of the company — the person who ensures every job runs smoothly, safely, and to the standard our customers expect, while managing the team that delivers it. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role reporting directly to the owner, with real opportunity to grow into a more senior operating role as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage resource scheduling across all active jobs, balancing core staff with temporary surge labor during high-volume periods
  • Own hiring, onboarding, and performance management for field staff
  • Drive front-line accountability for on-time, on-budget job execution
  • Define and uphold what "white-glove" service looks like in execution
  • Balance speed and cost against our customer experience standard
  • Implement quality-control checkpoints (spot checks, customer feedback loops, job close-out reviews)
  • Maintain and enforce SOPs for packout, cleaning, storage, and transport
  • Own safety compliance — proper handling procedures, training records, documentation
  • Serve as the process owner who keeps execution consistent as the company grows
  • Job Coordination — Managing The Moving Parts
  • Vet and select the right subcontractors for jobs requiring outside labor or specialty services
  • Serve as the communication hub between our team, mitigation/reconstruction contractors, and customers
  • Prevent delays and miscommunication that could compromise the customer experience

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in operations management, ideally in restoration, construction, field services, or a related project-based industry
  • Proven track record managing both people (scheduling, hiring, team leadership) and projects (multi-party coordination, vendor/subcontractor management)
  • Strong safety and process orientation — comfortable building and enforcing standards
  • Excellent communicator, able to represent the company well with customers and outside contractors
  • Thrives in a fast-moving, variable environment with competing priorities
  • Experience in restoration, insurance claims, or contents/property management industries a plus

What We Do

Blue Kangaroo PACKOUTZ is a comprehensive contents cleaning and restoration company. We’re focused on utilizing industry best practices for the handling of personal and business assets. Our work is so important because we’re restoring what people value most. Clients seek out Blue Kangaroo PACKOUTZ after fire, water, mold, or other damage—it’s a very sensitive situation they’re facing, so we work hard to make the restoration process seamless and stress-free.

Who We Hire

We look for individuals with skills such as truck driving, warehousing, sewing, woodworking, crafting, cleaning, and other restoration-related activities. We also know that not everyone comes to us with these skills. That’s why we put each specialist—those with or without training—through an in-depth and comprehensive training program. Each Blue Kangaroo PACKOUTZ member learns the entire contents restoration process while honing in on their specific cleaning or restoration skills. It’s all a part of our ongoing support and training experience.
