About the Role
The Operational Program Director (OPD) will provide leadership and coordination for programs serving persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), mental health diagnoses, medical needs, and/or autism spectrum disorders. This position blends direct care and supervisory duties.
Hours are full-time, though part-time may be possible within any given home. The OPD’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate program, individual, and staff needs and includes on-call responsibilities unless prior arrangements are made. The OPD ensures all direct service shifts are filled by qualified staff and may occasionally work direct service shifts, typically not exceeding 16 hours per week. If more than 16 hours are required, the OPD must notify their supervisor in advance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate programs for individuals with ID/DD, mental health diagnoses, medical needs, and/or autism spectrum disorders.
- Ensure all direct service shifts are staffed by employees who meet Dungarvin’s conditions of employment and are adequately trained.
- Occasionally work direct service shifts, not to exceed 16 hours per week unless approved by a supervisor.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet program, individual, and staff needs.
- Serve as on-call for emergencies unless prior arrangements are made.
- Notify supervisor if direct service hours exceed 16 in a work week, in accordance with Dungarvin policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or a related field is preferred.
- Designated Manager status per 245D licensing requirements in Minnesota (245D.081).
- Three years’ experience supervising staff in the human services field, as required by 245D Designated Manager qualifications.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record per Dungarvin policy.
- Valid liability vehicle insurance and reliable transportation.
- Ability to perform personal cares, lift, and transfer individuals served.
- Ability to transport persons served in the community.
- Strong decision-making, time management, and communication skills.
- Responsible, flexible, and at least 18 years of age (some programs require 21+ per MN foster care licensing).
