Roles And Responsibilities
- Maintains active professional relationships with physicians and patients.
- Absorbs and applies sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
- Ensures medical records are legible, concise, and accurate.
- Organizes equipment, instruments, medications, and supplies for cases according to patient needs and physician preference cards.
- Has working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgical center operating rooms.
- Demonstrates appropriate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period.
- Performs surgical prep according to standard of care and surgeon preference.
- Adheres to recommended traffic patterns.
- Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, their families, and other external and internal clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Uses knowledge of medical record policy and procedure.
- Supports initiatives aimed at improving individual and organizational performance.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in an ambulatory surgery center or operating room.
- Experience with ophthalmic procedures (preferred but not required).
- Experience as an operating room nurse (required).
- Familiarity with computer software and quick learning ability (especially electronic health record experience preferred).
- Able to remain focused and organized and able to stand for extended periods.
Education Requirements
- 2 or 4-year degree.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Nevada.
Physical Demands
- Regularly uses hands for dexterity.
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
