About the Role

The OR Inventory Coordinator ensures appropriate OR inventory meets par level requirements, improves flow, and standardizes OR inventory procedures for consistency and control of materials. This role works with an auto replenishment system to maintain sufficient inventory levels while focusing on sustainability and cost savings.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and maintains the efficient ordering and distribution of OR inventory to ensure par levels are met.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and maintains perioperative inventory standardization procedures to improve flow and consistency of OR materials.
  • Collaborates with the team to develop and implement ideas for improved efficiencies, waste reduction, and cost savings.
  • Serves as Sustainability Champion for the OR, focusing on waste reduction, energy reduction (e.g., LED surgical lights), and supply reduction.
  • Leads sustainability initiatives and works with a multidisciplinary team to capture savings by utilizing reprocessed single-use medical devices (SUDs).
  • Determines reorder points and ensures sufficient inventory levels are maintained while reducing waste through the auto replenishment system.
  • Analyzes demand, trends, and forecasts, and recommends adjustments accordingly.
  • Compiles reports on inventory standardization, auto replenishment controls, and related cost savings or expenditures; makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Provides accurate monthly data for the volume of surgical cases.
  • Leads annual and purchasing-requested inventory counts and ensures accuracy.
  • Reconciles and enters patient charges for surgical procedures.
  • Participates in the orientation of OR employees to maximize productivity and minimize turnover.
  • Communicates with staff, charge nurses, and managers regarding backordered items.
  • Writes policies and procedures related to inventory management.
  • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of inventory experience, including 2 years of OR experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of inventory management.

Pay

The posted rate of pay for this role is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay, starting at $56,430.40 annually. The final base compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Some positions may also be eligible for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
