Operating Room Assistant
About the role
The Perioperative Care Associate II (PCA II) performs all duties of the Perioperative Care Associate I (PCA I) and, under direction, assists the surgical staff with patient care including transportation, supplies, equipment, instruments, and care of the environment. The PCA II also:
- Assists the core facilitator with completion of case carts and preparation of positioning devices and equipment.
- Assists the surgical team with preparation of the surgical suite.
- Trains PCA I staff.
- Participates in quality improvement processes.
- Functions as a collaborative and participative member of an interdisciplinary team, consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the Surgical Services department and Swedish Medical Center.
The PCA II works under the guidance of the PCA III, Surgical Technologist, Facilitator, and RN, and the direction of the Surgical Support Supervisor/Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of a Perioperative Care Associate I (PCA I).
- Assist with patient care, including transportation, supplies, equipment, instruments, and environmental care.
- Support the core facilitator in completing case carts and preparing positioning devices and equipment.
- Prepare the surgical suite for procedures.
- Train and mentor PCA I staff.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Surgical Services department.
Requirements
- National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association (upon hire).
- 1 year of experience performing duties of a Perioperative Care Associate I or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $28.25 - $38.83 per hour. These amounts reflect the base pay range; additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
Schedule
Full time, with multiple shifts available.
Work Location
Swedish First Hill, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA. This is an on-site position.
