About the role

Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the OR Assistant (ORA) performs duties of direct and indirect patient care.

Responsibilities

• Positioning patient for surgery with guidance from circulating RN or surgeon
• Holding patient for surgical prep
• Transporting specimens
• Cleaning OR procedure rooms and equipment
• Transporting, restocking and/or obtaining patient care supplies
• Responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members
• Taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit

Requirements

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care
• Good organizational skills, personal maturity, accuracy and flexibility
• Command of verbal and written English
• Able to perform simple math calculations
• Develops and maintains positive relationships across all areas of responsibility
• Visibly demonstrates commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient

Qualifications/Training/Experience

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred
• Age Specific Criteria: Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas. Ability to Meet Job Performance Expectations: Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $15.67-$23.50
