Job Information
The Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU) is searching for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work includes neuroimaging as a methodology and developmental cognitive neuroscience as a framework, though strong applicants aligned with other methodologies and frameworks may also be considered. The ideal candidate will complement the expertise of our existing faculty in one or more of the following areas: Cognitive Neuroscience (developmental focus), Legal Psychology, Child Clinical Science, Applied Social and Cultural Psychology, and/or Industrial Organizational Psychology. The successful candidate is expected to hold a joint appointment with the Center for Children and Families (CCF, see below).
- The minimum requirements are PhD in psychology, neuroscience or related field.
- Mid-rank and senior candidates must have a strong record of publications and substantial active federal grant funding, while junior candidates must demonstrate evidence of, or very strong potential for, extramural funding and a solid record of scholarship in refereed journals.
Department Information
The Psychology department at FIU ranks in the top 5 nationally on research and development expenditures according to the NSF Higher Education Research and Development Survey and the department's faculty hold over $90 million in grants. The department has 30+ tenure-track faculty, 20+ full-time teaching/research/clinical faculty, and 100+ Ph.D. students spread across our five doctoral specialty programs, 300+ graduate students in our master's programs, and over 5,000 undergraduate psychology majors. Collaborative research is emphasized and many faculty share investigator status on grants. Most faculty access additional resources and collaborations through affiliations with several university research centers, including the Center for Children and Families (CCF), the Center for Imaging Science (CIS), and the Global Forensic and Justice Center (GFJC).
Center for Children and Families (CCF)
The CCF is an interdisciplinary center that focuses on research, education, and service in child and adolescent mental health, with strong connections to the community and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the third largest District in the nation. The CCF includes a research-dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility that supports a 3T Siemens MAGNETOM Prism equipped to run the Human Connectome Protocol.
