Open Rank Tenure or Non-Tenure Faculty - Veterinary Anesthesia Educator, Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine

About the role

The Clemson University Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM) is seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinary Anesthesia Educator.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver the anesthesia course in year 2 and participate in other clinically based, team-taught courses in the curriculum including activities in the Clinical Skills surgery lab.
• Aid in the development and delivery of the anesthesia rotation in the clinical year curriculum.
• Provide consultation services for cases seen by Clemson PCVM Veterinary Services.
• Aid in the development of the Clemson PCVM lab and clinical case policies and procedures.
• Develop assessment strategies in alignment with the overall competency-based curriculum.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure integration of knowledge and skills across years and courses.
• Actively and effectively engage in student-centered instruction, coaching, and mentorship.
• Serve on PCVM and campus committees as appointed or elected.

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent with 3 plus years of relevant experience.
• Must demonstrate a solid foundation in veterinary anesthesia and the ability to teach anesthesia skills to veterinary students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
• Commitment to excellence and creativity in education.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in South Carolina and ability to obtain a DEA license.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include: DVM or equivalent with 3 plus years of relevant experience.
• Preferred qualifications include: 5 plus years of relevant experience in veterinary medicine or education, experience in anesthesia skills education, simulation pedagogy, and/or competency-based assessment, demonstrated experience mentoring learners (students, interns, residents, or technicians), and board certification or residency training in a veterinary specialty recognized by the ABVS (ACVAA, ECVAA, etc.).

• The possibility of a 9-month or 12-month contract are options that can be discussed with the department chair.
