Open Rank Tenure or Clinical Faculty - Large Animal & Ambulatory Services, Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine
Location: Clemson University Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine, Pendleton, SC. Open Date: Jul 21, 2026.
About the role
The new Clemson University Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is establishing a Large Animal and Ambulatory Service to support its developing DVM program. The service will operate from a dedicated ambulatory services building with four fully equipped trucks, each equipped with ultrasound, point‑of‑care bloodwork analyzers, flexible endoscopy, mobile hoof trimming and squeeze chutes, and digital radiography. Clinical skills laboratories with low‑ and high‑fidelity large animal simulation models and live animal teaching facilities at the Lamaster Dairy and Clemson Equine Unit will supplement hands‑on training. The ambulatory service will provide routine and emergency care for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, backyard poultry, and swine (with a focus on 4‑H animals and small herds), and will include a regional herd‑health truck for larger farms. Faculty will engage with extension agents, local producers, and producer groups across Anderson, Oconee, Laurens, Saluda, and Abbeville counties to build relationships, promote herd health, and support educational experiences for fourth‑year veterinary students beginning in 2029. The position emphasizes clinical service, teaching, and research, with academic rank commensurate with experience.
