Open Rank Professor in Mathematical Sciences
Location: El Paso, TX • Full-time • Anticipated start date: fall 2027
About the role
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking data scientists with expertise in Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistical Modeling, and/or High-Performance Data Analytics for an open-rank faculty position. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs, mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and direct Ph.D. dissertations in data science. Candidates with experience in industry and/or applied interdisciplinary research projects are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a productive research program in data science
- Mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Teach courses in data science and related fields
- Direct Ph.D. dissertations in data science
Requirements
- Ph.D. in statistical/mathematical data science or a related field
- Strong record of research accomplishments
- Capacity to secure extramural funding
Qualifications
Preference will be given to recent PhDs with postdoctoral experience.
