About the role

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a non-tenure-track (NTT) teaching professor for our cooperative mechanical engineering program with Missouri State University (MSU) in Springfield, Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, organize, and execute laboratory and lecture-based instruction in mechanical engineering with a focus on control systems.
  • Broad teaching strength in other fundamental areas of mechanical engineering is desirable.
  • The typical teaching workload is three to four courses per semester.
  • Sustain and contribute to development and growth of the cooperative mechanical engineering program through innovations in teaching and relevant service.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in mechanical engineering (or a closely related field) and an ABET/EAC accredited undergraduate degree in engineering, or equivalent, is required.
  • Successful prior teaching experience will be an important consideration, and industrial experience is also desirable.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities, the ability to motivate and inspire students are also required attributes.
  • Professional Engineering licensure is considered a positive for the applicant, although not required.
