Open-Rank Faculty Position in Neuromodulation for Psychiatry

About the role

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking several faculty members (open rank) to join our Department to complement our current strengths and enhance our research mission. We seek to hire faculty members to expand our departmental mission in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research.

Responsibilities

• Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure.
  • Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.
• Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.
• Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching.
• Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.

Requirements

The ideal candidate(s) must have a strong record of external research funding, as well as expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to clinical, education, and research programs with regard to interventional psychiatry. Applicants must have an advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.), with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio. Those with clinical degrees must be licensed in Ohio by the time of appointment. In some cases, individuals with substantial research programs and funding, and without clinical training or eligibility may be considered for this role (e.g., Ph.D., in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar), provided they are actively interested in, and demonstrate prior commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care.

• An advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.) with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio.
• Experience and demonstrated commitment to working with patients in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research.
• Experience and demonstrated commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care.

Skills

Strong record of external research funding, expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to clinical, education, and research programs with regard to interventional psychiatry, advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.) with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio, experience and demonstrated commitment to working with patients in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research, experience and demonstrated commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care.
