Faculty Position in NHP Neuroscience
Tsinghua Laboratory of Brain and Intelligence (THBI) is conducting a global search for a senior group leader (Chair Professor) in nonhuman primate neuroscience. The faculty member will lead a team in neuroscience and cognitive-behavioral research, developing gene-editing technology using the common marmoset as the model system.
About the Institute
THBI is a stand-alone interdisciplinary research institute recently established by Tsinghua University. It will house 10 independent groups, each led by a senior group leader, aiming to answer foundational questions about intelligence at all levels (cognition, brain, and artificial systems) through cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research. THBI operates in an English working environment and brings together international scholars from brain science, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence to conduct groundbreaking research.
THBI manages the Tsinghua University Nonhuman Primate Research Center (THU-NPRC) on campus. The center focuses on the common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus), a highly social New World primate species, and provides state-of-the-art facilities, including:
- Dedicated animal housing and research facilities
- Operating room and genetic manipulation room
- Embryo culture room
- Behavioral and electrophysiology laboratories
- High-field (9.4T) animal MRI scanner
The center supports a wide range of studies, from brain imaging and complex social behavior analyses to brain disease models, and will produce genetically modified marmoset models for basic and translational research. THU-NPRC is open to researchers at Tsinghua University and other institutions in Beijing.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, life sciences, cognitive science, computer science, or related fields of physical sciences and engineering
- Outstanding, internationally recognized track record of innovative research in neurobiology, animal behavior, genetics, gene-editing, or large animal brain disease models
- Experience as an independent principal investigator (PI) in universities or research institutions is highly desirable
- Promising and talented young scientists are also encouraged to apply
