Open-Rank Faculty Position in Neuromodulation for Psychiatry

About the role

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking several faculty members (open rank) to join our Department to complement our current strengths and enhance our research mission. We seek to hire faculty members to expand our departmental mission in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits as well.
• Expand our departmental mission in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research.
• Focus on evidence-based neuromodulation treatments for individuals with psychiatric conditions, either in mood disorders, addictions, or combining both areas.
• Experience and demonstrated commitment to working with patients in these same areas, (be licensed or eligible) and in training residents, medical students, postdocs, and interns in these methods.
• Strong record of external research funding, as well as expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to clinical, education, and research programs with regard to interventional psychiatry.

Requirements

• An advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.), with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio.
• Those with clinical degrees must be licensed in Ohio by the time of appointment.
• In some cases, individuals with substantial research programs and funding, and without clinical training or eligibility may be considered for this role (e.g., Ph.D., in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar), provided they are actively interested in, and demonstrate prior commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care.

Qualifications

• A strong record of external research funding.
• Expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to clinical, education, and research programs with regard to interventional psychiatry.

Skills

• Experience in using neuromodulation techniques, including others not mentioned; such as low frequency ultrasound, transcranial magnetic stimulation, psilocybin, ketamine/esketamine, etc.
• Expertise and funding in evaluating the mechanisms and moderators of these treatments.
• Experience and expertise in examining clinical and functional outcomes, treatment satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.
