Position Summary

The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering at Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, beginning August 2026. This position supports the department’s expansion as it launches a new Biomedical Sciences degree program in Fall 2026. Faculty in this department play a key role in delivering introductory biology courses (Biology I & II) and anatomy and physiology for pre-health and STEM majors.

Biological Sciences Position Summary

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and applied research in the biological sciences. Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in introductory biology, anatomy and physiology, and related areas.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate students.
  • Develop and sustain a program of applied or interdisciplinary research.
  • Participate in curriculum development, student recruitment, and university service.
  • Engage with professional organizations and contribute to the academic community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • For Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field (completed by start date).
  • For Associate Professor: Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline. Currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or be eligible for promotion at the current institution.
  • For Full Professor: Ph.D. in Biology or related field. Minimum of six years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Biological Sciences Research or industry experience relevant to biological or biomedical sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding and lead interdisciplinary projects.
  • Experience with academic advising and student mentoring.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
