Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting edge research in the fields of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration.
  • Carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, perform data analysis, write manuscripts, and publish results.
  • Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university.
  • Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department.
  • Assist with training and supervision of students, postdocs, and technicians.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. from an accredited college or university.
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level as indicated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An established national and international reputation in the fields of Alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Sustained success in obtaining external funding for research.
  • Exceptional track record of publications in top scientific journals.
  • Evidence of a commitment to fostering multidisciplinary collaborations with other academic researchers both inside and outside the university.
  • Unique, cutting edge technology expertise.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

  • This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
  • The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
  • Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements.

The mission of the Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine is to promote multidisciplinary research and teaching excellence in both biomedical and clinical sciences. The department was founded in 1993 as the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics. We seek to attract outstanding faculty and bright students by creating a welcoming, collegial, and collaborative environment to foster success and creativity. Our faculty’s research focuses on a variety of fundamental areas, ranging from neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders, brain injury, learning and memory, neuroprotection, development, inflammation, and regenerative medicine, using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches. Our department is also the home to the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, the Viral Vector Core, and a state-of-the-art microscopic facility, including multiphoton confocal microscopes, N-STORM super-resolution microscope, light-sheet microscope, imaging flow cytometry, and slide scanner.
