Open Rank Faculty in Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine
About the role
The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia is seeking applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in neuroscience research. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on age-related cognitive impairment, synaptic dysfunction, neurodegeneration, and neuroregeneration. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting edge research in the fields of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration. Carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, perform data analysis, write manuscripts, and publish results.
- Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university. Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department.
- Assist with training and supervision of students, postdocs, and technicians. Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Participate in teaching medical and graduate students.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
- Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Qualifications
- An established national and international reputation in the fields of Alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative disorders.
- Sustained success in obtaining external funding for research.
- Exceptional track record of publications in top scientific journals.
- Evidence of a commitment to fostering multidisciplinary collaborations with other academic researchers both inside and outside the university.

Pay
This position is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Schedule
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
