About the role
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks exceptional faculty members to join a dedicated group of medical educators in the Division of Hospital Medicine. This Hospitalist position is open rank and open track, with salary and rank commensurate with experience and education.
Responsibilities
- Primary daytime Academic Hospitalist position
- Night coverage limited to less than 20% of shifts
- Teaching medical students and resident physicians in both pre-clinical and clinical years of training
- Rotating on student and resident teams
- Holding leadership roles in quality improvement, anticoagulation, antimicrobial stewardship, resident and medical student education, medical floor directorship, executive hospital leadership, and research
- Offering protected time within the Division of Hospital Medicine for education, leadership, and quality improvement
- Having early opportunities for protected time within the Division of Hospital Medicine
- Having opportunities for advancement and protected time within the Hospital and School of Medicine
- Offering competitive salary with internal moonlighting opportunity
Requirements
- Must be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine by date of hire
- Must be eligible to work in the US
Qualifications
- Served at least two years in a residency that provides education to Medical Students during their core clerkship in internal medicine OR served on the faculty of a Medical School
- Experience/interest in Hospital Medicine
- Experience/interest in medical education and/or quality improvement activities
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
