Open Rank, Clinical Faculty - Pediatrics, Associate Chief Medical Officer

About the role

The Holtz Children’s Hospital and Jackson Women’s Hospital Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) will oversee the medical practice to ensure high quality and cost-effective care. The ACMO reports to the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for the Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between medical staff and facility administration
• Evaluate and optimize care management approaches, disease management, patient satisfaction, patient safety, and resource utilization
• Develop and implement effective disease management programs, clinical protocols, and guidelines
• Conduct quality improvement programs including peer review, chart reviews, and corrective action plans
• Focus teams and units on visions and strategies for excellent clinical, service, and financial outcomes
• Promote evidence-based medicine practices and integrate them into patient care delivery systems
• Maintain effective communication with medical personnel and the community
• Facilitate patient transfers and provide ongoing counsel and advice to medical staff
• Develop and prioritize goals/objectives and work plans, including the definition and measurement of outcomes
• Assist with the Integrative Care Management Team in achieving clinical outcomes, length of stay, denial reduction strategies, and best practice goals
• Provide oversight and leadership for all medical education programs
• Ensure strong and continued relationships with the UM School of Medicine
• Implement an organizational structure promoting shared accountability, high achievement, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Ensure medical staff development plans and programs are implemented and maintained
• Collaborate with members of the Holtz senior management team, particularly the Chief Nursing Officer, in improving clinical quality
• Take a lead role on sentinel events team
• Represent the concerns of the medical staff to management and represent the objectives, goals, and concerns of facility administration to the medical staff
• Oversee the comprehensive program of continuing medical education
• Participate in the development of hospital-wide goals, plans, policies/procedures, and programs
• Supervise and oversee medical staff governance/processes related to performance improvement, risk management, patient safety, and medical staff development/strategic plan

Qualifications

Requirements include a MD degree, board certification in relevant specialty, and extensive experience in medical leadership and quality improvement. Candidates must have a proven track record of success in managing medical staff and facilities, and be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Skills

Essential skills include strong leadership abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage complex healthcare systems. Proficiency in evidence-based medicine and quality improvement methodologies is also required.
