  • The Medical College of Georgia Department of Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, to serve in the division of Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery.

  • This individual will work at our new Columbia County Hospital, located 5 miles from the main Wellstar MCG Health campus.

  • The newly constructed, Columbia County hospital sits along Gateway Boulevard in Grovetown, will be approximately six floors that will span about 250,000 square feet. The hospital will feature 100 beds, level II trauma center, surgical platform that will include operating rooms, cath labs, interventional radiology and endoscopy, and a 90,000 square-foot medical office building that will include primary care, women's health and surgical sub-specialties.

  • Qualified candidates should be board-certified in plastic surgery with a minimum of 0-3 years of experience.

  • We seek a dynamic surgeon and educator willing to be part of a growing division in an academic institution.

  • This qualified candidate will be able to work collaboratively with other services in our Health System such as Surgical Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, and Trauma.

Responsibilities

Develop clinical practice in the field of Plastic Surgery.
Enhance the Plastic Surgery Program, increase clinic visits and increase surgical volumes related to plastic surgery.
Work with colleagues in Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Dermatology and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Participate in the call schedule with the Divisions of Plastic Surgery.
Teach and educate general surgery, otolaryngology and OMFS residents about plastic surgery. Teach medical students' broad educational components about surgery and wound care. Mentor students and residents applying to Plastic Surgery Residency positions through research, collaboration and connectivity.

  • Required Qualifications

    Doctorate degree (MD or DO) or equivalent.
    Should be board-certified or board-eligible in plastic surgery with a minimum of 0-5 years of experience.
    Must be able to get credentials in Plastic Surgery at Wellstar MCG Health.
  • Assistant Professor

    Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
  • Associate Professor

    Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Professor

    Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements);
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an academic medical center preferred.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
