  • Job Summary

    The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Emergency Medicine at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. This faculty member will participate in instruction, oversight, and academic progress of Emergency Medicine residents, Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows, and medical students. They will take an active role in resident, medical student, and fellow education concurrent with patient care.

  • Responsibilities

    • Work clinically in the Emergency Department approximately 13-15 9hr ED shifts per month

    • Take 1-2 calls per month

    • Internal moonlighting allowed per Emergency Medicine departmental guidelines

    • Participate in the instruction, oversight, and academic progress of EM residents, Pediatric EM fellows, and medical students, and complete timely, formal evaluations as needed.

    • Actively participate in resident, medical student and fellow education concurrent with patient care

  • Required Qualifications

    • MD, DO or equivalent; EM residency or Pediatric EM fellowship trained

    • Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

    • Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

    • Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

  • Shift/Salary/Benefits

    • This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

    • Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

    The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University).

    MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices.
