Job Summary
The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a Neurosurgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice level to join the Neurosurgery Spine Team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include teaching, clinical, research, and service responsibilities. The position will work closely with other neurosurgeons to build and cover the Neurosurgical Spine practice. The position is part of the University Spine Center and requires working closely with the Spine Rehab and Ortho Spine team and being part of a combined call schedule with the Orthopedic Spine surgery division.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of neurosurgery spine team to build and cover the neurosurgical spine practice
- Working closely with the Spine Rehab and Ortho Spine team and being part of the combined call schedule for the Spine Center
- Work with residents on training them in your spine subspecialty
- Work with the Spine Fellow to train them on the latest neurosurgical procedures in spine
- See patients in clinic to review their case and determine suitability for surgery
- Perform neurosurgery procedures on patients as determined by your medical/surgical expertise
- Work with the Spine Team to attain quality metrics set by Dept of Neurosurgery
- Maintain all training, certifications, licensing to be up to date and able to practice

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
- Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice: MD or DO Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License
- Associate Professor of Clinical Practice: MD or DO Board certified in Neurosurgery Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License
- 7+ years of clinical experience with one or more of the following: minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spine surgery, spinal deformity surgery, and/or spinal oncology surgery (intra- and extradural).
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship trained in Spinal Neurosurgery and/or substantial experience in the arenas listed above
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other physicians and staff at all levels throughout the institution. Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability, with capacity for program building.

Anticipated Pay Range
HIRING RANGE: Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice: $500, 000 – $550,000 Associate Professor of Clinical Practice: $550,000 – $600,000
