Responsibilities
- Perform technical responsibilities relative to assisting cardiothoracic surgeons with the instrumentation of Open Heart surgery.
- Assist in the preparation and management of tubings utilized by the heart-lung (pump) machine.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years scrubbing experience in a major operating room.
- At least one (1) year of experience as an Open Heart Scrub Technician.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (employees hired prior to 1/1/2018 are exempt).
- Current BLS Certification.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Successful completion of a surgical technologist program accredited by a national accrediting organization or a successor organization, or successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists administered by the US Public Health Service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard.
