OPEN HEART TECH EXPERIENCED SURGERY (PER DIEM VARIED)

Responsibilities

• Perform technical responsibilities relative to assisting cardiothoracic surgeons with the instrumentation of Open Heart surgery.
• Assist in the preparation and management of tubings utilized by the heart-lung (pump) machine.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years scrubbing experience in a major operating room.
• At least one (1) year of experience as an Open Heart Scrub Technician.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a surgical technologist program accredited by a national accrediting organization or a successor organization, or successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists administered by the US Public Health Service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard.

Note: Employees hired into this position prior to 1/1/2018 are exempt from certification requirement.
