About the role
The Ski Club Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Vail Gondola Club during the ski season. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a team, taking pride in creating an outstanding member experience, and thriving in a fast-paced mountain environment.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Aid the Assistant General Manager with recruiting and selecting seasonal staff
- Lead and conduct initial training and onboarding of seasonal employees
- Provide clear direction, expectations, and daily assignments to staff
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient operations
- Maintain safe food handling and alcohol service procedures
- Monitor staff performance issues and take appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with Club policies and direction from management
- Foster a positive, professional, safe, and enjoyable workplace
- Lead by example and promote a "can-do" attitude and a culture of being ready and willing to assist members, guests, and fellow employees
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all Club operations and be prepared to perform staff duties when necessary
- Club Operations
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Vail Gondola Club
- Facilitate preseason preparation and ensure the Club is fully prepared for the season
- Establish and maintain daily operating procedures and staff checklists
- Monitor daily operations and adjust assignments or procedures as needed to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time
- Ensure all Club rules, policies, and procedures are understood and consistently followed by staff
- Ensure a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Club environment
- Safely manage cash gratuities and ensure fair and accurate distribution
- Perform and staff duties and responsibilities as part of the daily operation of the Club, while simultaneously providing leadership, direction, and oversight
- Member & Guest Experience
- Deliver a consistently warm, professional, and welcoming experience for members and their guests
- Anticipate member and guest needs and look for opportunities to exceed expectations within Club policies and guidelines
- Serve as the first level of escalation for member, guest, or staff concerns that cannot be resolved by front-line employees
- Handle complaints and difficult situations professionally, using sound judgment, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills
- Escalate significant or unresolved issues to the Assistant General Manager of the CPOA and/or General Manager as appropriate
- Inventory & Purchasing
- Maintain accurate inventory levels for Club supplies, food and beverage items, equipment, and other operational necessities
- Monitor usage and anticipate upcoming needs to ensure appropriate stock levels throughout the season
- Place orders with approved vendors as necessary
- Work to minimize waste while ensuring the Club is adequately stocked
