Onsite Service Specialist I (Marysville MI)
About the role
The Onsite Service Specialist plays a crucial part in MSC’s mission to serve customers and the community. This role is based at a strategic account and involves supporting the customer facility. Key responsibilities include assisting with customer order placement, managing MSC ControlPoint Solutions, and resolving on-site issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist in customer order placement, quoting, sourcing, and collecting cost savings statistics.
- Manage MSC ControlPoint Solutions, including Vendor Managed Inventory, Vending, and Storeroom management programs.
- Determine optimal sourcing strategies for key customer projects, collaborating with the Category Team.
- Engage in customer plant and production meetings, strategic initiatives, and participate in Lean/Six Sigma events.
- Collaborate with the account team to enhance customer satisfaction and secure future projects.
- Resolve customer product and service issues by providing sales-related solutions and consulting with other associates and strategic suppliers.
- Communicate customer concerns to management for effective problem resolution.
- Work closely with vendors to source products, provide quotes, expedite orders, and arrange product training.
- Foster the MSC culture within the department and the company to ensure alignment with MSC’s vision and goals.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- A college degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of inbound/outbound telephone sales, outside sales, storeroom/inventory management, or customer service experience is required.
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Relevant military experience is a plus.
- Metalworking knowledge and experience is a plus but not always required.
Skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency with email, various internet browsers, and the Windows operating system.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and sales skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working industrial knowledge is preferred.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Ability to lift items of up to 50 pounds as needed.

Compensation ranges from $22.26 to $32.65 per hour, depending on location and experience.
