Responsibilities
- Performs various clerical tasks providing customer service in a polite and courteous manner.
- Acts as a clerk to the Department of Oncology managing patient check-in, including insurance verification, initial set-up of triple identification system, and setting up future appointments.
- Triages calls from referring offices, patients, and families.
- Inputs proper documentation into the patient’s electronic medical record in the appropriate sections.
- Provides high levels of customer service to patients, families, referring offices, and within the department.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: High school graduate with one year of advanced training in medical terminology or its equivalent.
- One to two years of clerical and/or patient registration experience required.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft Office).
- Experience with an electronic medical record preferred.
- Exceptional customer service and ability to multi-task.
- Must enjoy working in a very busy environment.
Physical Requirements
- Stands, walks, and sits intermittently.
- Considerable mental and visual demands.
- Considerable mental strength required to work daily with cancer patients.
- Physical movement such as reaching and bending is also required.
- Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
- Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
- Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
- Ability to lift 10 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.

- May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events, as necessary.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $24.26 - $24.99 hourly. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining compensation, several factors may be considered, such as location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
