About the role
The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized direct and indirect patient care. They work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, nutritionists, and other care team members to develop personalized care plans based on the patient's clinical condition, symptoms, and diagnostic results.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements individualized care plans for patients with cancer.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provides emotional and informational support to patients and their families.
- Monitors patient progress and adjusts care plans as necessary.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety activities.
Requirements
- Maintains a current Registered Nurse license within the State of Idaho.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and reprioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Working knowledge of insurance coverage and procedures.
- Working knowledge of community resources.
- Oncology nursing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of work experience in a medical office is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of oncology nursing practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
